Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is hosting a bus recruitment event at Buchanan Bus Station with all the main bus operators in the West of Scotland, highlighting the opportunities and benefits of working in the bus industry.

The event has been planned in response to the recent bus driver shortages across the UK and to showcase the opportunities available in the bus operator sector in the Strathclyde region.

SPT Head of Bus Strategy Gordon Dickson said:

“We are all aware of the impact that bus driver shortages have had on the industry and on passengers. Working with all the main bus operators and GTG, which offers a range of driver training courses, this event offers anyone interested in becoming a bus driver the chance to speak with all the main operators in the West of Scotland in one place.

“Many of the operators are now offering part-time driving opportunities as well as full-time, which may suit those looking for flexibility, trainee and development positions are also available. With good salaries also on offer for a range of roles, this may be the perfect start of a career in the bus industry.”

Representatives will be present from First, Glasgow Citybus, McGill’s, and Stagecoach, as well as driver training facilitator CTG.
