SPT partners with Payzone to offer convenient ZoneCard purchase options

We have partnered with Payzone to provide easy access to the newly modernised ZoneCard for public transport use across the Strathclyde region.

From Monday 8 July customers will be able to purchase ZoneCard tickets at any participating Payzone outlet using cash or other payment methods, to then be loaded onto their Smartcard.

This partnership with Payzone provides payment flexibility, supporting cash-paying customers and offering a simple and convenient alternative to our current online tools and app. This will simplify the process of staying mobile in the Strathclyde area, allowing customers to quickly and easily purchase ZoneCard tickets, in a process similar to making a contactless payment. The partnership will benefit both retailers and customers, with increased footfall into stores resulting in a boost to local business and community engagement.

Simon Lambert, Commercial & Operations Director at Payzone said: "We are pleased to be partnering with Strathclyde Partnership for Transport to launch the new ZoneCard on behalf of all the operators on the ZoneCard Forum. This initiative not only enhances the accessibility of public transport in the Strathclyde area but also supports our commitment to providing innovative solutions for our customers. By allowing ticket purchases via cash at our stores, we're ensuring that all members of the community can benefit from public transport, regardless of their preferred payment method."

Ryan Sorley, ZoneCard Forum Chair and Commercial Development Manager for First Bus Scotland, said, “ZoneCard has been an essential ticket for many customers using bus, rail and Subway over the years. Working together with SPT, the ZoneCard operators are delighted to launch this modernised ZoneCard offer, making full use of smart ticketing technology to provide convenience and flexibility for customers. One ticket on one smartcard to travel on bus, rail and Subway – it couldn’t be easier.”
