Argyll and Bute residents are set to benefit from £774,000 of transport improvements over the next three years thanks to investment from Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT).
The funding comes from SPT’s Capital Programme 2026/27 to 2028/29. It has been allocated to local authorities and other delivery partners of SPT to support the delivery of its Regional Transport Strategy, which aims to improve accessibility, affordability, availability and connectivity of transport across Strathclyde, as well as reducing carbon emissions and promoting active travel.
The £254,000 has been allocated to bus stop infrastructure updates in the Helensburgh area.
Councillor Stephen Dornan, Chair of Strathclyde Partnership for Transport, said: “We remain committed to improving transport across the SPT region, ensuring safe, reliable and sustainable transport options for all. Our investment programme will help ensure that communities, residents and businesses across Argyll and Bute can share in the benefits of improved public transport and active travel.
“Our work continues to align with the objectives set out in our Regional Transport Strategy and we look forward to collaborating with local authorities and partners to deliver meaningful transport improvements that support connectivity, inclusion and a greener, more connected region.”
