To mark National Bike Week (8-12 June 2026), SPT delivered a series of staff events designed to encourage and support active travel. These initiatives directly reflect the recommendations set out in the Commuting & Business Travel Review and Plan 2026-2030, which emphasises the importance of reducing barriers to cycling and walking for everyday journeys.

What We Delivered

  • Get Started with Voi Introductory sessions delivered in partnership with Voi, helping staff understand how to make safe, confident use of shared e‑bikes. Vouchers were issued to engaged staff for free trips, as well as helmets handed out courtesy of Voi!
  • Active Travel & Mental Health Workshop A wellbeing‑focused session with SAMH exploring the positive links between movement, stress reduction, and mental health took place at SAMH’s new hub in Glasgow – The Nook. Staff who took part also participated in a guided walk from SPT office locations to The Nook ahead of the workshop lead by SPT colleagues.
  • Dr Bike @ 131 SVS On‑site bike checks and repairs provided by Getting Better Together, giving staff practical support to keep their bikes travel‑ready.

Staff Engagement

Across the week:

  • 55 staff members took part in the events
  • 5 bikes were repaired during the Dr Bike session.

These activities continue to build momentum around active travel at SPT, supporting healthier commutes and contributing to our organisational sustainability goals.

A huge thank‑you to everyone who participated and supported Bike Week!
