Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) has formally held its first partnership meeting following the local elections appointing a new chair and vice-chairs.

Councillor Stephen Dornan from Glasgow City Council was elected as SPT chair.

Councillor Alan Moir and Councillor David Wilson were returned as SPT vice-chairs.

The new Chair, Councillor Stephen Dornan, said:

“I am delighted to have been appointed as SPT Chair and look forward to leading the partnership representing all parties as we continue to meet the many challenges facing public transport and look to improve options for the travelling public.

“I also look forward to working closely with my vice-chairs to ensure SPT continues to play its role in leading the response to transport needs and demands in the West of Scotland.”

Councillor Alan Moir said:

“I am very proud to continue in my role as vice chair of SPT building on the work and the services the organisation and its staff have been delivering particularly over the last number of years.  We also recognise the issues we are facing in the post-COVID recovery and the important role transport can play in that.”

Councillor David Wilson said:

“It is an honour to continue in my role as vice chair of SPT and I look forward to working with colleagues from all local authorities across the West of Scotland and SPT officers to ensure we deliver the best possible transport options for the travelling public.”
