Subway Nightrider

What is Subway Nightrider?

Subway Nightrider is a new night bus that runs when the Subway closes for maintenance on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. We want to ensure that you have a safe journey home from your night out or late working without having to wait in long taxi queues.

How do I use it?

Get on the Subway Nightrider bus at any bus stop which displays the special Subway Nightrider flag. These bus stops are located as close as possible to each Subway station, and are located as follows:

Service 701 Outer Circle (clockwise):

  • Howard Street at St. Enoch Square
  • Eglinton Street at Subway
  • West Street, near Subway from City
  • Scotland Street at Shields Road
  • Paisley Road West after Edwin Street
  • Paisley Road West before Percy Street
  • Copland Road at Subway
  • Govan bus station
  • Govan Road at Clachan Drive
  • Dumbarton Road at Thornwood Roundabout
  • Partick Interchange
  • Byres Road before Chancellor Street
  • Byres Road before Roxburgh Street
  • Byres Road North of Observatory Road
  • Great Western Road at Landsdowne Crescent
  • Great Western Road at Cromwell Street
  • Garscube Road opposite New City Road
  • West George Street after Dundas Street
  • Howard Street at St. Enoch Square

Service 711 Inner Circle (anti-clockwise):

  • Argyle Street after Buchanan Street
  • St Vincent Place
  • Garscube Road at New City Road
  • Great Western Road opposite Cromwell Street
  • Great Western Road at Montague Street
  • Byres Road at Vinicombe Street
  • Byres Road at Hillhead Subway
  • Byres Road before Torness Street
  • Partick bus station/Interchange
  • Dumbarton Road at Thornwood Roundabout
  • Govan Road near Aboukir Street at No. 1198
  • Govan Bus Station
  • Copland Road opposite Subway
  • Paisley Road West at Cessnock Street
  • Paisley Road West at Harvie Street
  • Scotland Street at Shields Road
  • Scotland Street, near West Street Subway
  • Eglinton Street south of Nelson Street

How much does it cost?

A flat fare of £2 per journey applies, regardless of the length of your journey. Exact fare is required - no change can be given.

Please note, the following are NOT valid on this service:

  • Concessionary Entitlement cards
  • First Card
  • ZoneCard
  • Subway tickets (single or multi-journey)
  • Daytripper ticket
  • Discovery ticket
  • Roundabout ticket

How often does it run?

Friday night/Saturday morning:

  • Every twenty minutes through the night, from around midnight on Friday to start of normal Subway operation on Saturday morning.

Saturday night/Sunday morning:

  • Every twenty minutes through the night, from around midnight on Saturday to start of normal Subway operation on Sunday morning.

Sunday evening:

  • From close of normal Subway operation to around midnight on Sunday.
