Integrated Ticketing
SPT is working towards a multi-modal smartcard-based ticketing system.
Multi-modal, seamless smart ticketing assists in delivering properly integrated public transport.
SPT has appointed a supplier to provide new smart-enabled gates and ticket vending machines for the Subway in 2013.
In addition, SPT is also procuring a supplier to develop and provide the system to manage the smart transactions for the Subway and the long-established ZoneCard integrated ticket.
Concessionary bus travel has been fully smart since last year and First ScotRail provides a smartcard ticket on the Glasgow to Edinburgh line.
There has never been a better time to introduce modern, smart ticketing for public transport users, and through the above initiatives SPT is well-placed to support new products for transport operators and in time for use by visitors to the Commonwealth Games in 2014.
