High Speed Rail/Ground Transport

The development of high speed ground transport (HSGT) - either high speed rail or Maglev (magnetic levitation) - between Glasgow, Edinburgh and the rest of the UK is an important part of our transport agenda.

Studies commissioned by SPT to consider HSGT between Glasgow and Edinburgh have been published by a distinguished group of transport experts and academics from across the UK. Those findings add substantial weight to the arguments for high speed connections between Glasgow and Edinburgh and the rest of the UK.

SPT has also financed, commissioned and published a report on the possible locations for the HSGT terminals in Glasgow city centre. This is a mark of our continued commitment to such a project. We will continue to make the case that any high speed rail links should be built simultaneously from Scotland going south and London going north.
