All aboard for SPT safety drill

Joe McLaughlin with primary school pupilsPupils from Arkleston Primary School in Renfrewshire climbed aboard to take part in an emergency briefing on the Renfrew Ferry service.

The primary four pupils were given an insight into safety procedures during a training session for staff.

The annual Abandonship exercise tests the emergency communication links between SPT and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

Arkleston Primary School pupils have been involved in the project for six years.

A week prior to the exercise, ferry supervisor Joe McLaughlin and other experts visited the school to give pupils safety advice relevant to their visit and general water safety information.

The event proved a big success, with SPT and coastguard staff ensuring a great day out for the children.
