Subway staff in Yorkhill cash boost
SPT staff pulled out all the stops to raise money for sick children during our recent Subway Festival.
Throughout the four-day event in April, Subway staff sold badges to passengers in aid of Yorkhill Children’s Hospital, raising £3,000.
News International, publishers of The Scottish Sun, also contributed to the worthy cause, with a total of £5,000 raised.
SPT Chair, Councillor Alistair Watson, and Director of Subway Operations, David Wallace, presented the cheque to Joan MacLeod, Yorkhill Fundraising Manager, on Monday.

They were joined by SPT staff, young patients and SPT’s new mascot, Boo the Bunny, who was a big hit among many of the youngsters currently being treated in hospital.
Presenting the cheque, Councillor Watson said: “Our Subway Festival was a great success and throughout the whole event the Subway staff worked extremely hard to raise as much money as possible for Yorkhill.
“We’re extremely proud to be handing this cheque over today and we’d like to thank all the passengers that bought a badge.
"The money is going to a hugely worthwhile cause and we would like to show our appreciation for the Yorkhill staff who do a wonderful job.”
The Subway Festival ran from 10 – 13 April and was the first underground festival to be held in the UK.
Singers, poets, rappers and children's entertainers helped make the event a huge success by performing in stations and on trains.
