Backing for interlink services
Bus services to Croy railway station are to continue, thanks to funding from SPT.
Services 344, 348, 349 and 403, which act as a Croy interlink, will now operate for a further 18 months or until the new Park and Ride car park development is complete in 2009.
Bus services will then be reviewed to take into account the new facility.
SPT members agreed to award the renewed contract to Stagecoach Glasgow at a cost of £599,115.
Initially Stagecoach will provide the vehicles for the services.
However, it is hoped that SPT will take delivery of new vehicles by the summer which will then be used on the routes.
SPT Director of Bus Operations, Eric Stewart, said: “This is a very important link for commuters using Croy train station so we’re only too happy to continue the contract.
“We hope to introduce our own vehicles on to the services by the summer.”
