Partick public meeting on £12.3million station rebuild

SPT is inviting Partick residents to an open evening to learn more about proposals to completely rebuild Partick Station. The event takes place on Thursday 20 October in Partick Burgh Halls, 3-9A Burgh Hall Street, Partick, from 6pm to 9pm.

Work is due to start by the end of October on completely rebuilding Partick Station in a £12.3 million project to create a state-of-the-art facility which will offer passengers greater comfort and safety.

The station will remain open throughout the 16-month construction programme, which is expected to be finished in January 2007, and all rail, Subway and bus services will continue to operate as scheduled throughout the work.

Due to the nature of the project, some night time work will be necessary, but local residents will be informed before this work is carried out.

SPT Chair, Councillor Alistair Watson, said, "During the construction period, local residents and businesses are likely to suffer some inconvenience but we are determined to keep this to a minimum. We apologise in advance for any disruption people may experience. SPT is very keen to keep local residents informed as the project progresses and this open evening is a chance for us to consult local people on their views and for them to learn more about the project."

Once completed, the new Partick Interchange will include state-of-the-art safety, security and passenger information systems and more spacious waiting areas and will provide passengers with easier transfers between rail, Subway and bus services.
