14 March 2005 Charities cash in on bus station's birthday Generous bus station staff raised nearly £2,500 for charity to mark a special birthday celebration. More than 50 SPT employees organised a raffle and some took part in a sponsored walk around Buchanan Bus Station to raise funds for five charities in honour of the 10th anniversary of the official opening of the revamped station. The British Heart Foundation, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Children First, Alzheimers Scotland and The Parkinson's Society have benefited from their efforts. SPT Chair, Councillor Alistair Watson, said: "The staff wanted to mark this occasion by raising money for charity - they have all done extremely well and I am delighted that so many worthy causes will benefit from their efforts." ends
