Lanark to Milngavie peak train alteration
The Monday to Friday evening peak-time train from Lanark to Milngavie via Motherwell will leave 6 minutes early from next week to enable service stops at Hamilton to be restored.
From Monday 20 January, the 1651 from Lanark will be re-timed to leave at 1645 allowing for two additional stops at Hamilton Central (1717) and Hamilton West (1719), restoring the peak-time service for Hamilton commuters travelling on to Rutherglen, Glasgow and stations on the Milngavie line.
This is a necessary alteration to the new winter timetable, published on 6 January 2003. The new timetable brought many improved services including the service between Glasgow and Lanark being increased to provide two trains an hour, which as well as significantly improving the service frequency also gave the first passenger service on the Holytown to Wishaw line since 1974.
Publicity will be displayed at all relevant stations along the route to ensure passengers are aware of the changes. Passengers looking for further information can also ask at their local station or call National Rail Enquiries on 08457 48 49 50.
