Radio Clyde's Cash for Kids appeal came to the Glasgow Subway this week and helped spread a little Christmas cheer for commuters.

As well as treating passengers to a special guest appearance by Cash for Kids mascot Courage the Cat, volunteers were also giving away tickets for the stage production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

Throughout the day Clyde listeners were urged to get on the Subway, find Courage and say the phrase that pays: "I've caught Courage and helped Clyde One's Cash for Kids."

A total of 60 tickets for the musical show were given to lucky winners between 8am and 6pm, and Cash for Kids raised more than £250 in donations from generous Subway users.

Radio Clyde presenter Romeo also dropped into Buchanan Street station to meet Courage and record a live segment for the station.

He said: "Cash for Kids is the local Radio Clyde charity that helps needy kids in Glasgow and the West. The very important thing about Cash for Kids is that all the money raised stays right here.

"The pound you put into the bucket will go straight to a local child who's maybe not going to have the best Christmas, and hopefully we can change that.

"The response in the Subway has been excellent. The thing about Cash for Kids is that people know what it's all about, and as soon as they see the logo they make a beeline straight for us and give as much money as they can."
