A new film by SPT shows our poet-in-residence John Rice in action during a recent trip by school pupils to the Subway.
John treated P7 pupils from Lorne Street primary school in Kinning Park to a morning of fun creative writing and drama activities at Partick Interchange.
The children were tasked with writing down all the sights and sounds from their Subway trip and making these into their own unique poem. This outing was the culmination of a series of workshops with John Rice, during which pupils learned poetry, performance, storytelling and drama skills.
John explains: "My main intention as the poet-in-residence for SPT is to try and get the children used to the Subway, enjoying the excitement of being there, looking at their surroundings and writing about their impressions of it.
"We hope the children go away with a new image of the Subway and the service it provides for people."
