The Outer Circle of the Glasgow Subway is back up and running after a train breakdown caused a temporary suspension of service on the line.

Train breakdown problem resolved

November 30, 2008

The Glasgow Subway is back to full service after a train breakdown on the Outer Circle caused temporary disruption.

Subway passengers were advised to use the Inner Circle only as engineers worked to restart a train which broke down close to Hillhead station at 14:45 on Sunday.

Staff led passengers who were on the train through the tunnel to the station in line with SPT's health and safety guidelines.

The breakdown was caused by an electrical fault and control room staff restarted services on the line at 16:40.

A spokesman for SPT said: "We apologise to passengers for any inconvenience caused.

"Our staff followed a well rehearsed procedure to lead people from the affected train.

"They worked hard to reopen the line and we're pleased to say things are now running normally."
