Awards success for Subway Festival
November 21, 2008Our Subway Festival has scooped another prestigious industry award.
SPT and event partners DADA picked up the win in the Integrated Communications category at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) PRide Awards 2008 in Edinburgh on Thursday.
The festival was in a category which also included campaigns by NHS Health Scotland, NHS Lothian and The BIG Partnership.
This award recognises the huge amount of media and press coverage the event received.
The coverage spanned local, regional and national press, including news, arts and leisure.
In addition the event was covered extensively on STV, BBC Reporting Scotland, Clyde FM and XFM. The Subway Festival raised £5,000 for the Yorkhill Children's Foundation.
The CIPR PRride Awards ceremony, at the Sheraton Hotel, was attended by Amanda Anderson, Marketing Manager at SPT.
She said: "We are delighted the Subway Festival has been recognised again. It was an innovative event that helped raise awareness, gave our passengers a great day out and increased passenger numbers by 10,000 over the weekend.
"We look forward to running an even better Subway Festival in 2009."
The Subway Festival picked up the 'Creative Marketing' award at the Glasgow Business Awards in October.
We launched the UK's first ever Subway festival in April 2008.
It featured more than 300 performers across 50 venues and seven themed Subway stations, with activity taking place over three days.
The line-up included singers, dancers, comedians, musicians, acrobats, fashion shows and prizes.
As a result, passenger numbers increased by 10,000 over the two main days of the event.
A staff survey established that 94% thought the event was excellent, very good or good.
SPT is now planning a second Subway Festival for 2009.
The PRide Awards recognise excellence and reward achievement in public relations and communications.
