To make things a little easier for you, we’ve curated our top picks for events happening across Glasgow this summer and all are super easy to access via the Subway network, even better! Taking place between the 31st May – 30th June, the West End Festival is Glasgow’s largest cultural event and every June takes over this popular area of Glasgow with a wide variety of events and performances. Last year over 400 events took place in 80 venues. Getting around this festival couldn’t be easier with Subway!
From Monday 30th July – Saturday 11th August there will be a variety of brilliant acts performing every night in the outdoor amphitheatre, Kelvingrove Bandstand. This is a ticketed event which has mostly sold out but don’t worry, there’s still lots to do down at Kelvingrove including taking in the beautiful scenery and premium street food outlets on display. If you're heading along then you can hop on the Subway and alight at Kelvinbridge/Kelvinhall, it’s only a short walk to Kelvingrove bandstand from our stations.
Celebrating its 30th year, the Glasgow Jazz Festival is back with venues across the city and a whole host of excellent performances to see!
Scotland's biggest free multicultural festival - bursts with live music, theatre performances, exotic and mouth-watering foods from around the globe and fun for all ages on Sunday 24th June in Kelvingrove Park.
From 27th June to 16th July, Glasgow Science Centre will host Gamesmania, the gaming event with over 150 consoles, spanning over four decades featuring everyone from Super Mario to Crash Bandicoot, Minecraft’s Steve and more! Celebrating the last four decades of gaming, you can expect to see classic upright arcade games like Asteroids and Space Invaders as well as the most cutting edge VR gaming technology.
Taking place on 14th & 15th of July, Pride Glasgow is the largest festival of LGBTI in Scotland! Featuring the annual march of LGBTI celebration, pride festival which will be held across both days in Kelvingrove park along with Pride Glasgow at The Bandstand and so much more! Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Queen + Adam Lambert but to name a few, TRNSMT festival is back with a bang and this year the line-up is even better! Running 29th & 30th June & 1st July and 6th & 8th July at Glasgow Green, this is one festival you don’t want to miss out on! Aspiring performer? As part of the European Championships 2018, Festival 2018 presents a fun-filled cultural programme running alongside the sporting action taking place across the city. With free activities for all ages across 11 days, a range of delicious Scottish food and drink to sample and fantastic music from talented Glasgow based artists across a whole variety of genres, there’s not a chance you’ll run out of things to do whilst Festival 2018 is here.
Take a stroll around the Merchant City Festival and enjoy the best of Scottish and international art and entertainment ranging from street arts to music, theatre, food and drink, comedy and so much more. The Merchant City Festival is back for another year as part of Glasgow 2018 European Championships from 2nd – 12th August with lots of events free of charge, it’s the place to be to experience Glasgow at its best!
Back for another exciting year, the World Pipe Band Championships returns to Glasgow Green on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th August. Bringing the best from the piping world to Glasgow, whether you’re a first timer or a regular attendee to “The Worlds”, there’s something for everyone from Highland Games, Highland Dancing, not to mention a great showcase of food and drink and of course, the fantastic music!
Celebrating Mackintosh 150 this year, The Lighthouse is the perfect place to go to explore more about the famous Charles Rennie Mackintosh. And, if you’d like to see Glasgow from a better perspective, you need to make sure you take a trip up the winding stairs of Mackintosh Tower. The view from the top is well worth the climb!
