Kilcreggan ferry
End of an era on the Clyde
Last Saturday sailing of MV Kenilworth on Kilcreggan service

The MV Kenilworth, the vessel operating the Gourock-Kilcreggan-Helensburgh ferry service since 1979, will soon be replaced. During this time, MV Kenilworth has provided an essential Clyde estuary crossing for 2.1 million passengers.
Built in 1936, she originally served as the Southampton-Hyde ferry and celebrates her 71st birthday later this year. But nothing stays the same for ever, and it’s time for the veteran MV Kenilworth to be replaced by a new vessel.
On Saturday 24 March 2007, the MV Kenilworth operated its last scheduled Saturday on the Kilcreggan route. To mark the occasion, the passengers sailing on the MV Kenilworth received a free commemorative booklet detailing the history of the route and in particular, that of the MV Kenilworth.
Next weekend will see the inaugural sailing of a brand new vessel, the MV Seabus, on the Kilcreggan route.
