Steel structure in place at Hamilton Bus Station

Work at Hamilton’s revamped bus station is progressing at pace with the steel structure of the new building now in place.

When complete, it will deliver new, modern passenger facilities and an improved interchange with the rail station and taxi services.

Covered walkways will link the state-of-the-art station building to the 17 local bus and coach stance areas and also extend to the rail station and taxi area.

All waiting areas will be enclosed and fitted with automatic doors to provide greater comfort for passengers and information screens showing bus departure and arrival times will be installed.

Contractor Bowmer & Kirkland began work on the second phase of the multi-million pound project began before Christmas and remains on schedule.

The redevelopment is a joint initiative between SPT, which provided £5million, and South Lanarkshire Council, which committed a further £500,000 of funding.
