SPT's environmental policy
SPT is continuing to show its commitment to the environment with the publication of our corporate Environmental Policy Statement.
We are working to improve our environmental performance through the development and implementation of an Environmental Management System.
Our environmental policy was published on 5 June 2008, designated by the United Nations as World Environment Day.
Work is under way across SPT to identify measures to improve energy efficiency, reduce water consumption and minimise waste, overseen by an Environmental Steering Group chaired by Assistant Chief Executive Gordon Maclennan.
The aim of this work is to minimise SPT's impact on the environment and demonstrate ongoing commitment to staff and stakeholders.
Chief Executive Ron Culley said: "Not only does SPT have an obligation to improve the environment by encouraging modal shift, we also have a responsibility to lead by example.
"Over the next few years and beyond, we will commit ourselves to achieving environmental improvements in all we do as an organisation.
"Mahatma Gandhi said 'be the change you want to see in the world'. SPT must exhibit best practice in matters to do with environmental improvements if we are to persuade others to adopt these values."
