Glasgow's evening hospital visitor transport service

Hospital visiting made easier

What is the service?

Some people experience difficulty getting to hospitals by public transport in the evening, particularly older people, people living with a disability, or in receipt of benefits.

Glasgow's evening hospital visitor transport service will collect you from your home (or as near as possible), take you to your nearest hospital and take you home again.

How do I access the service?

Booking the service couldn't be easier. Simply telephone the booking hotline on 0845 128 4027.

For transport to your nearest hospital, you can book between:

  • 1pm and 4pm Monday to Thursday, and between
  • 1pm and 3.30pm on Fridays.

If you wish to visit a hospital other than your nearest, please call the booking line after 3pm.

The first time you call:

When you call for the first time, you will need to register. You will be asked for information to monitor who uses the service.

You will only need to give this information once. All information will be treated in the strictest confidence and in compliance with the Data Protection Act.

When you call to book the service:

You will need to tell us:

  • your registration number;
  • what hospital you're visiting; and
  • what time visiting begins and ends.

Your pick-up time will be confirmed by telephone. You will be collected as near as possible to your front door.

You can book transport up to one week in advance provided you are visiting your local hospital. This is because we want to make sure that everyone who needs the service has an opportunity to use it.
