Bus stops and shelters
We look after most of the bus stops in our area, and nearly half of the shelters. To keep them in good order, we need your help.
Our role and responsibilities
Within the SPT area there are a total of nearly 11,000 marked bus stops and 4,200 bus shelters.
SPT is directly responsible for the maintenance of nearly 10,000 of these bus stops (across 11 local authority areas), and nearly 1,800 of the bus shelters (across seven areas) on behalf of the local authorities. SPT is not presently responsible for any bus shelters in Argyll & Bute, East Ayrshire, North Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire or South Ayrshire.
Additionally, SPT owns - and is responsible for - 13,400 pole-mounted information cases located at 8,800 bus stops throughout 12 local authority areas.
Whilst regular inspections are carried out, vandalism is a continuous problem and it is very difficult for us to find out quickly about every damaged bus stop, information case or bus shelter.
If you see a bus stop, information case or bus shelter that has been vandalised or damaged in some other way, please let us know by one of the following means:
- by filling in the online damage report form (see below); or,
- by writing to us at SPT Bus Operations (Infrastructure), Consort House, 12 West George Street, Glasgow G2 1HN.
If the reported damage is not within our area of responsibility, we will pass the report on to the appropriate body.
Please provide as much detail as possible including the bus stop reference number which should be displayed on the bus stop flag.
Reporting online
For a trial period*, you can report damage and defects online. The report form should only take a few minutes to complete.
Click on the link below, fill in the details in your browser window and click the "Done" button when you have finished. Your report will be submitted automatically.
Report damage to bus stops, bus shelters or timetable cases, or incorrect information.
* If the trial is successful, the online reporting facility will feature permanently on this website.
