Facilities - Buchanan bus station

Make your visit to Buchanan bus station as pleasant and stress-free as possible.

    Concert Square car park is situated next to the station.

    There is a multi storey car park located at Buchanan Galleries, off Killermont Street.

    A drop-off only area is situated at the taxi rank off Cowcaddens Road.

    Cycle racks

    A number of cycle racks are available near the taxi rank. These are available free of charge, but cycle owners must provide their own locking mechanism.

    Please note, cycle racks are available daily on a first-come first-served basis, and demand is usually high.

    Additional cycle racks are located outside the bus station in Killermont Street. These racks are not maintained by SPT.

  • The am:pm restaurant, located on the main concourse, offers internet access from three workstations. Cost is £1 for 20 minutes or £2.50 for one hour.

    Customers of am:pm can also enjoy WiFi access - 20 minutes with any purchase. Ask for an access code voucher.

  • Staffed facility

    There is a left luggage facility, open daily between 10:00 and 18:00, situated on the main concourse. Individual items should not exceed 20kg. The charge for this facility is £4 per item.

    Left luggage lockers

    There are also a number of left luggage lockers adjacent to the desk, accessible between 06:00 and 23:00. Charges for the use of left luggage lockers vary in accordance with the size of locker. The amount chargeable for the use of lockers covers a 24-hour period.

  • SPT does not accept lost property. All items found in the bus station should be handed directly to Strathclyde Police.

    For items that are left on buses and coaches, please contact the relevant operator.

  • Payphones

    There are a number of BT payphones situated throughout the bus station and concourse.

    Post box

    There is a post box located on the main concourse next to the Photo-Me booth. Collections are made at:

    • 18:45, Monday to Friday
    • 12:00, Saturday
    • 11:00, Sunday

    Stamps can be bought from WH Smith.

  • SPT occasionally receives requests from people who wish to take pictures at our bus stations.

    If you would like to take pictures in an SPT bus facility please contact our Service Delivery Officers on 0141 333 3709 or 0141 333 3118. Requests will only be considered where there is no disruption or impact on the safe running of the bus station.

    Media/Press requests should go to the SPT Communications team on 0141 333 3397.

    People taking photographs within an SPT bus station should be aware that they may be approached by SPT representatives enquiring about their activities.

    Staff will direct any interested parties to the safest vantage point where necessary.

    There are various factors taken into account when considering requests, with health and safety, data protection and commercial interest among the main considerations.

    SPT does not welcome the wearing of high visibility clothing as this could create an impression that the photographer is operating in an official capacity.

    Designated crossing areas must be used at all times.

    Only SPT employees or representatives are permitted into bus operational areas.

  • There are a number of retail outlets and services located in the bus station including:

    WH Smith - located at the south end of the main concourse, selling newspapers, magazines, confectionery and soft drinks. Opening times:

    • 07:00 to 20:00, Monday to Saturday;
    • 08:00 to 20:00, Sunday.

    Clansman - sells newspapers, magazines, confectionery and soft drinks. There are two branches, one located on the main concourse next to the Travel Centre (open daily between 07:30 and 20:00, and a smaller kiosk located opposite stance 47 (open daily between 07:30 and 18:00).

    Needhams - sells toiletries, groceries, stationery and flowers and can be found in the main concourse next to AM/PM Cafe. Open daily, 07:00 to 21:00.

  • There is a 24 hour taxi (Glasgow Taxis) rank located off Cowcaddens Road.

  • The male and female toilets are located on the main concourse and are open daily between 06:00 and 23:00 with baby change facilities in both toilets.

    The disabled toilet, located in the same area, is controlled via a RADAR key, which can be obtained from the left luggage desk. If the left luggage desk is closed, the key can be obtained from Security.

    A charge of 20p applies to toilets (except the disabled toilets) and a change machine is conveniently located at the entrance to the toilets.

  • A tour lounge, located between stances 22 and 23, is available for passengers prior to tour departures. This offers seating, vending, electronic passenger information and male, female and disabled toilet facilities. There is no charge for the toilets.

    The disabled toilet is opened with a RADAR key, which can be obtained from the left luggage desk. If the left luggage desk is closed, the key can be obtained from Security.

  • Vending machines

    Vending machines located on the bus station concourse are available between 06:00 and 23:00. All other vending facilities are open 24 hours.

    There are a number of vending machines for tea, coffee and confectionery at various locations in the bus station.

    A machine to design and print your own business cards is located on the main concourse adjacent to the Photo-Me booths.

    Cash point

    There are two ATMs in the bus station, available 24 hours a day, located between stances 47 and 48. These cash dispensers accept all valid UK bank and building society cards (ie Link affiliated) without surcharge. They also accept major credit cards.

    Instant photos

    There are two Photo-Me booths for instant passport-type photos located on the main concourse beside the post box.
