Strathclyde Partnership for Transport is committed to making your journeys more convenient. To do this we want to give our customers as many options as possible for travelling to our stations.

Cycling is becoming more and more popular in Scotland – with a third of Scottish households having access to one or more bikes suitable for adults and the majority of bike journeys take less than 30 minutes, it is the perfect way to get to local transport hubs.

We have started an initiative to provide covered and secure facilities for storing bikes for our customers who would like to cycle to our stations. Three bike shelters have been completed at Buchanan Bus Station, Kelvinbridge Subway station and Bridge Street Subway station.

  • Buchanan Bus Station – new covered shelter has been installed near stance 33.  This shelter can accommodate up to 10 bikes.
  • Kelvinbridge Subway Station – the covered shelter is easily accessible from the River Kelvin cycle path and the surrounding local cycle network. This shelter, which can accommodate up to 10 bikes.
  • Bridge Street Subway Station – the covered shelter is very accessible using the surrounding local cycling network. This shelter can accommodate up to 10 bikes.

The new shelters at Kelvinbridge and Bridge Street Subway stations are ideal for cyclist who wish to park their bikes and continue their journey using the Subway.

The bike shelters are covered by CCTV but SPT cannot take responsibility for bicycles or any other private property stored in these shelters – all property is left at owners own risk.
