SPT is going the extra mile to help those taking part in 2013 BUPA Great Women’s 10k Glasgow on Sunday 12 May, with special offers to encourage travel to the race by public transport.
For the seventh year in a row, the Subway will open around two hours early at 8.30am to get runners across the city to Pollokshileds. Free parking for Subway passengers is also on offer at Shields Road, Kelvinbridge and Bridge Street Subway Park and Rides.
The Women’s 10K has always been a hugely popular event in Glasgow and I’m delighted that SPT can once again help competitors get to the starting line on time and by public transport.”
In addition, SPT has arranged for free race shuttle buses to take runners, family and friends to the event site and back again. The buses will operate from Buchanan Bus Station and from Shields Road Subway station.

The race starts at 10am on Nithsdale Road and winds up on Mosspark Boulevard.
Shuttle Bus Service – To Event Site
A shuttle bus service will operate from 07:30 from Buchanan St Bus Station and Shields Road Subway station. The service will drop all runners, family and friends close to the start line. You are advised to allow 1 hour for your journey as there will be high demand for this service and queues are expected. If you would prefer to walk from Shields Road, it will take you approximately 25 minutes to walk the 1.5km to the Start Line.
The last bus will leave both destinations at 09:30.
Your Return Shuttle Bus Service – From Event Site
The shuttle bus service will resume at 10:30 from Dumbreck Rd and return to Buchanan St Bus Station and Shields Road Subway station. Buses will aim to complete the return journey in approximately 30 minutes for Buchanan St Station and 20 minutes for Shields Road Subway station.
The last bus will leave for both destinations at 13:30.
