Subway customers using Kelvinhall station will have noticed a dramatic change recently. As part of SPT’s ongoing modernisation work, the wall panels at Kelvinhall platform level have now been stripped back to the original walls, and new panelling is due to be installed over the coming months. Plans are also under way to install a piece of public art in the station.
The platforms at Kelvinhall will be resurfaced, while new wall tiles, lighting, signage and enhanced facilities for disabled customers will also be installed. A new temporary entrance for customers is under construction, and this will be used for the duration of the work.
Modernisation work has also started at Ibrox. A temporary ticket booth has been opened and passengers are being asked to use a revised entrance point to keep disruption to a minimum while building work is underway.
Both Kelvinhall and Ibrox will be completed in time for the Commonwealth Games next year.
